A rugby sevens event usually features a cup, plate, bowl, and shield final. The cup is obviously crucial, but clubs can take solace in a few other things. Most teams strive to win the cup, which is awarded to the tournament’s first-place team and overall winner. The Plate is awarded to the fifth-place team, the Bowl to the ninth-place team, and the Shield to the thirteenth-place team. Figuring out how teams get to each of these finals and where the others finish in between is the more difficult aspect.
